Owing to tho advance in tho price of flour the bakers of Christchurch have decided to raise tho price of bread to ninepence to-day. t A sawyer at a Fruitgrowero' Association meeting in Chrisfcchiirch on the 2nd inst. stated that he had been cutting poplar trees for tho uso of the fruit industry, but now there vrse a demand for the poplar in several of tho timber businesses, and consequently it was going to the joinery and carpentering trades rather than being being used for tho making of fruit casofe.
