OTAGO UNIVERSITY.
NEW PROFESSOR OF GEOLOGY. Out of 11 applicants for appointment as Professor of Geology at the University of Otago, in succession to Dr Marshall, who has accepted the rectorship of the W£> nganui Collegiate School, the University Council yesterday selected Dr W. N. Benson, lecturer on geology nt the Sydney University. Dr Benson. D.Sc, 8.A., graduated B.Se. in the University of Sydney., after a brilliant career. He proceeded to Cambridge University, where he was awarded an exhibition for advanced research work.
