THE KENNEL.

By Terror. Fanciers and breeders of dogs are cordially Incited to oontribute to this column. "Terror" will endeavour to make this department as interesting and up-to-date as possible, but in order to do this he must have the 00-operation of his readrtrs, hence he trusts this invitation will be cheerfully responded to. During tho past week tho Auckland Kennel Club held their annual show, and, as there was a challenge for bulldogs, Mr C. A. Hutton sent a brace up, consisting of his winning bitch Lady Halsey and dog puppy Silver Soldier. He advises me that ho has just received a telegram stating that tho dog puppy got two thirds, but that Lady Halsoy was unplaced. Tho hot weather in tho northern city, together with tho long sea trip, would probably affect tho dogs, and they would not bo shown in their best condition. Offers of donations towards expenses of Mr Sam Crabfreo's visit to New Zealand still continue to come in, and it is a foregone conclusion that, should he accept tho invitation on the terms proposed, a cable will bo despatched forthwith confirming tho appointment. —Mr P. B. Witt, of Invcrcargill, paid a visit to Dunedin during the past week, and stated that bulldogs in Invercargill were at a rather low ebb just now; but they were looking forward to tho advent of Mr Crabtrce at the next Dunedin Show, and that fanciers were making- preparations in the shape of breeding, etc. ■—Mr A. Galloway, in a short letter, advises me that tho classes in bulldogs at the Wanganui Show were not very strong, but that some extremely promising young stuff was shown. sults of the Auckland Kennel Show.

—Mr Bauld, of Melbourne, has secured another excellent dog in Aldridge Ambassador. According to "Our Dogs," ho is a brindle and white, with immense bone, and perfect turn of forearm. A long, bigskulled dog, he has a real good body for his size, nice, well-carried ears, and rare expression, is as active as a kitten, and as sound as gunmetal. The photograph produced does not do him justice; but to sen him steady is but to admire him. He was whelped July 26, 1914, is by. Maybank Young Minor ex Aldridge Zipporall. On account of his breeder's belief in not showing a dog_ until matured, he has not been shown until recently. He was awarded two firsts and two seconds bj Mr H. Schliiferman. an excellent judge of the breed. At another show, judged by Mr ~L. P. O. Astlcy, he secured a first, and lifted no fewer than 12 specials, including three challenge cups ; Mr Bauld is to be congratulated on his pluck in buying- such a typical specimen, which will be a great acquisition to the bulldog fancy in Australia.
