WELLINGTON NOTES.

(From Oun Own Correspondent.) December 8. The Woodvillo Jockey Club had a most successful meeting this week. The form of the maidens was good. The winner, liymestra, ran third to' Tete-a-tete and Bimeter in the Electric Plate at Riccarton. The runner-up, Form Up, a three-year-old colt by Formative —Pursoring, on his only previous appearance, at Feilding, ran second in the Scurry. He beat a good field on the second day, and is going to be of some use. The other place-getter, Wapping, ran second on the concluding day to Mascot, a full sister to Ardenvhor. She finished fifth on the second day behind Waimatoa, by Bezonian —Punawai, .who ran second on tiie second dav.

J. W. Lowe, the Trentham trainer, just failed to land a treble with Ayah, who was unlucky in her first, start, Mascot, and Menelaus, who was beaten only by the narrowest of margins. The Feilding winner, Kurapai, won the Hurdle Pace each day. On the second day he was lucky to get the verdict from Janitor, the half-brother to Captain Jingle. Ho is trained at Woodvillo, and, although he had shown no form in his previous starts in hurdle races, was best backed in a field of 13. He was winning easily at the last fence, when he jumped the rail inside the course. He was afterwards sold to Air T. E. Whelch, of Hawke's Bay.

The grey gelding The Golfer was produced only on the scco»cl day. Weil bar died by R. Hatch, he scored in a clover nranrer in a close finish.

Four Auckland Cup candidates were sent out, and Alteration was the only one to score. He won the Hack Welter on the opening day from end to end, and was unplaced in the big- event on the second day. II > is a three year-old colt by Elevation from Ednam, the dam of Labour Day. and is in the Ellcrslie race with the minimum weight. He carries the same colours as Labour Day, who was unplaced in his onlystart

F. Davis has" his team at Woodvillo. Bjorr.cborg had been doing good track work, and he was well supported, but failed on both days. Chortle ran a great race on the first day. when beaten bv Maniaroa. and Blackall shaped badly on both days. Both horses, shoud do better at Ellerslie. Red Ribbon was bettfr handled on the second day, and is showing form which will win races before the season has much further advanced.

Miralm,a made her only appearance at the meeting in the High-weight Handicap, which race she won last year.
