SUCCESSES OU TS-8E LIPA. PETROGRAD, July 17. A wireless communique, summing up the fighting on Sunday, states that General Sakarofi has broken down the resistance of the enemy esst and south* east of Svimihi, in Volhynia. Our ad= Vance continues on the Lower Lipa, where the enemy are making a stub* born resistance. We took as prisoners 277 officers, 8037 men, and 24 guns on the Lower Lipa. Official : Yesterday the Russians captured in Volhynia 317 officers, 12,037 men, and 30 guns, including 17 heavy ones. July 13. A communique states: We continue to press the enemy in Volhynia, and are capturing prisoners. GERMAN REPORT. LONDON, July 17. A German communique reports lively fighting by Marshal von Hindenburg'sarmy south of Riga. General von Linsingen's advance checked an enemy attack southwest of Lutsk. In order to shorten our line of defence the Germans there have withdrawn behind the Lipa, without the enemy's interference. AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL REPORT. AMSTERDAM, July 18. An Austrian- communique states : The Russians south-west of Lutsk attacked with superior forces our, front on a cector near Sgklin' (?).. We withdrew east of Goroehow. Allied troops south of Lutsk withdrew behind the Lipa.
