SOUTH CANTERBURY HUNT CLUB'S MEETING. {From Our Special Reporter.) The South Canterbury Hunt Club held its first totalisator meeting in fine weather, and thero was an excellent attendance. Ihe card provided some interesting sport, and during tho dav £7853 10s went through the totalisator. Easton broke a collarbone when Cannie Hughio fell with him in the Hunters' Hurdles. Trireme and Cannie Hughio showed tho way past tho stand. Mescal took charge going along the back, and at tho last fence Trireme, Mescal, and Kaupokonui were in close order, and well clear of Hap Dha. In the run home Trireme won comfortably by two lengths from Kaupokonui, who beat Mescal by four lengths, with Hap Dha 15 lengths away. Cannie Hujyhie fell at the second last fence. Time, 2min 56sec. Grey Renown then dropped out. lkowai took charge going along the back, and was showing the way to Golden Grape at the last fence, where the 'atter ran off. Caseshot also missed the same fence. lkowai won by 10 lengths from Traditor, with Caseshot, who went back and got third money. Grey Renown finished next. Time, smm 39 l-ssec. WASHDYKE TROT, 6 Of 50sovs. One mile and a-half. 4_Mr W. Wharton's Quincey Belle, 21sec (T. Logan) 1 3 —Mr Hammond's Bridgewood, 21scc (N. L. Fairy Finn led for two miles, and was then joined by Wellwood and Marson. Wellwood took charge at the last fence, and won by ever half a length from Marson, who beat Fairy Finn by two lengths, with Taraki and Dardanelles 50 yards away. Time, 6min 57sec. HUNTERS' PLATE, of 30sovs. Two miles.
