CHARGE OF MURDER.
SEQUEL TO WELLINGTON TRAGEDY. WELLINGTON, July 19. In the Magistrate's Court, to-day Ernest Devoir) was committed for trial on a charge of murder as a serine! to the death of Louisa White, who died as the result of a wound from a revolver, alleged to have been fired by Devoin on the night of March 27 in the Nairn street reserve. Devoin and Miss White, who were to have been married in a few days, went fov a walk ill the reserve, and while they were there shots were hoard. The woman was found badly wounded in the spine, and Devoin was also injured in the temple, having attempted to commit suicide. Devoin was previously charged with attempted murder, but the woman was so critically ill then that the trial was adjourned, in
view of the possibility of a more serious charge. The evidence disclosed the fact that Devoir) already had a wife living.
