ARBITRATION COURT.
INCREASED WAGES GRANTED,
CHRISTCIITJRCH, July 3
Ae a result of the Canterbury Retail Drapers' Assistants' Union's application, tho Arbitration Court has granted a 10 per cent, war bonus to porters, storemen, and packers working under tho retail soft goods employees' award. Tn tho aerated water workers' award, the court has granted bottle washers an increase of 2s per week ever the amount recommended by the Conciliation Council. Previously the wage paid to these workers was £2 5s per week. The Conciliation Council increased tho amount to £2 Bs, and the court has now raised the amount to £2 10s. The principal difference in the saddlers' award is the provision that piecework rates may bo fixed by an agreement between the employers and the union. Hitherto tho rate* were stated in the award.
