At the Timaru Main School Committee mooting on the 21st inst. Mr Andrew Wilson vigorously protested against tho Government spending several hundred pounds at tho official opening of the Hmmor Convalescent Hospital, while Timaru and other school districts required grants for additions to schools. He did not object; to an official opening, but he thought tha Government was throwing away money, [fe was considered that tho committee had nob ■pushed its claims strongly enough on thfij Government. Other schools had received grants for matters of less importance.
