A very great deal is hoard from time to time of New Zealand's prospects of trado with America. Mr E. Clifton, who visited America recently as New Zealand's representative at the Panama Imposition, advises that New Zealand should strike at tho Eastern markets of the United States. Speaking at Palmorston North on the 21sfc inst.. he pointed out that in the East of America were the great centres of population, tho great manufacturing cities, and that there "food products were being sought for more and more. Two-thirds of America's gre.it population lived towards the East.
