MASTER PAINTERS' CONFERENCE.
CHRISTCHURCH. June 21
A conference of master painters opened hero to-day, Mr D. Leo (Christchurch) presiding. There were present 25 delegates from various parts of tho dominion. Tho President said tho employees were fighting for higher wages, and the employers must combine and act for their own protection. Tho Mayor (Mr Holland) welcomed tho delegates on behalf of the citizens. Tho conference will discuss a number of matters affecting tho trade.
