SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
MILLER'S FLAT. The annual trials of tho Miller's Flat Collie Club were held last week. Good entries were received, there being an increase on last year's. Mr A. Scott (Burnside) acted as j'udge. and expressed himself as highly pleased with the work of the dogs. Mr A. F. Roberts supplied very suitablo merinos. The results were as follow: —_ Maiden.—Head, pull, hold in the ring. Twenty-one entries—Mr R. Martin's Roy (28 points) 1, Mr W. Hickey's Lady (26 points) 2. and Mr W. Yardley's Grant (25 points) 3. ~,,,.. Class ll.—Head, bring back, hold in ring, and yard. Sixteen entries—Mr R. Yardley's Gyp (35 points) 1, Mr G. Richardson's Jet (31 points) 2, Mr N. MTJonald's Tweed (29 points) 3, Mr H. Ferguson's Tweed (22
points) 4. Mr W. Yardley's Grant, running into fifth place, was awarded Mr J. M'lntyro's special prize. Huntaway and .Slew. Fifteen entries—Mill. Ferguson's Boss (31 points) 1, Mr Alex. Ferguson's Jack (29 points) 2, Mr R. J. Martin's Glen (23 point.) 3. Mr E. J. Martin's Roy won Mr J. Riordan's special
prize. Mr John Donaldson won Mrs Young's special prize for the unplaced competitors living within a radius of 15 miles of Miller's Flat, having most entries at tho trials. Mr Moffatt won Mr G. Richardson's special prize for the best head and command off hand in Class 2. Mr D. MThcrson won Mr J. Sheehy's prize for the unplaced competitor securing most points in the trials. Mr L. Harris secured Mr Faigan's trophy for the competitor gaining most points in head, pull, and command in Classes 1 and 2. Master John Donaldson was awarded Mr R. M'Donald's donation of one guinea for the youngest competitor. A special prize of £2 2s by Mr Kain was won by Mr P. Madden for the best shepherd's hack. The prizewinner handed the sum over to the Sailors' Dependents' Fund. At the conclusion of the trials a presentation was to Mr Adam M'Donald. who has for some years taken keen interest in the affairs of the club. The presentation consisted of a case of Loewe pipes and a walking-stick, suitably inscribed. Mr M'Donald made suitable acknowledgment of the gift. A vote of thanks was accorded the judge (Mr iScott), whoso decisions had given the greatest satisfaction to the competitors —especially those from a a distance, r- and to Mr Kerr for the use of the grounds.
