WAIHEMO COUNTY COUNCIL

The ordinary meeting of the Waiheme County Council was held on Saturday; present— Crs T. 11. Piibrow (chairman), O'Neill, Clark. M'Lcnnan, Mathcson, M'Callum, M-Lay, O'Connell, and Muir. The Treasury Department notified that the goldiields revenue for March amounted to £l2 17s 6d.—Received. The Hon. A. L. literdman wrote forwarding a memorandum regarding the organisation and operations of the Discharged Soldiers' Information Depari ment. —Received. Messrs Madams Pros, (contractors) wrote stating that they would be unable, to break and deliver 30yds of metal at 8s ikl per yard, as the quarry was m a very bad state.—Received.

Messrs Palmer and Sons (quarry-owners) wrote notifying the following increases in the price of metal consequent on the increased cost of production:—2£in metal, 3s lOd per ton: 2ia metal, 4s per :on; lim metal, 4s 6d per ton ; screenings, 5s 6d per ton. —Received.

Messrs Booth and Macdonald (Christchurch 1 wrote asking- the council whether it would prefer to have, a grader of The new style, in which several improvements had been embodied, cr one of the old style In either case it would lie some weeks before they could supply tiny, graders, —Received. Goodwood, and Macraes Ridings, principally on the main roads.

The Finance Committee re-ported that the receiots during- tin' past month had amounted to £144 Is 9d. and the expenditure to £213 Os 10d.—Adopted, The ranger's report, which showed that 18 horses and cattle had been impounded during the month, was received.

Cr M'Callum asked the engineer to reporton the question ef straightening- a corner of the Main road, near the Goodwood "Lodge.
