Second Lieutenant W. S. It. Bloomfleld, Royal Flying Corps (Auckland), is in hospital with, a piece of shrapnel in his leg. While directing artillery fire in France, on February 29, he was shot down by an anti-aircraft gun, but he managed to land safely with his observer.
