PAYMENT OF MEMBERS
LONDON, April 6
In the House of Commons Mr M'Kenna moved to stop the parliamentary salary of members drawing full pay from the military or naval forces. Gir F. G. Banbury (Unionist) moved an amendment to abolish payment of members altogether. There was much opposition to the amendment, on the ground that it was introducing a party political subject at such a time, several members characterising it as a breach of the political truce. The amendment was rejected by 247 vote 3 to 32. Mr M'Kenna then withdrew his motion.
