(From Our Own Correspondents.) MOSGIEL, November 1. A nice warm rain fell on the Taiori this afternoon. Last Thursday a somewhat novel occurrence took place. For about a mile on tho slopes of Maungatua hail fell to such an extent that the ground was white. The shovver was confined to a radius of about a mile. None was observed at Berwick, on the one s;de, or Wood-s’de, on tho other. _ KOKONGA, November 1. The rainfall registered here for the month of October was 254 points. Rain fell on 12 days, and the maximum fall was 83 points on the 6th. GALLOWAY, November 1. The rainfall registered here for tho 24 hours ended 9 a.m. was 6 points. WOODLANDS, November 1. Tho rainfall for the 24 hours ended 7 a.m. to-day was 22 jioints, and for the previous 24 hours 29 points. For tho month of October 472 points fell. DIPTON, October 30. Tho rainfall registered hero for tho 24 hours ended 8.39 a.m was 10 points. HILLGROVE. November 1. The total rainfall recorded at Hillgrove for October was 167 points. This is below normal, and. though it has done a great deal of good, drought cond’tions still prevail. A good rain foil in North Otago on Saturday, but did not reach this locality.
