TIMARU SHOW
TIMARU, October 29. The Timaru A. and P. Association’s jubilee show was favoured with fine weather on both days, and People’s Day, yesterday, the attendance was very large—nearly a record, about 12,000 being present. Efforts had been made to ensure the jubilee show being much larger than usual, but adverse conditions (local and Imperial) prevented expectations from being realised. Tho entries showed some increase on those of last year, thanks to many from North Canterbury and North Otago. Many local exhibitors of previous years were not represented. Lincoln College and the New Zealand Land Company, Moeraki, filled many sheep pens. Mr E. Kelland held his own against the Lincoln College in English Leicester©, the Land Company led in
Lincolns and Corriedalcs, Lincoln College in Romneys and Southdowns, and Mr R. Parry in Shropshircs. Light horses, harness, hacks, and hunters as usual provided a largo section. The draught horses wore a good section. Mr J. R. Patrick (Outrain). took championships with Baron Bold and a mare from this horse. The Christchurch district furnished the pick of light harness horses The produce entries were largo, and nearly the whole collection was given for sale for Red Cross purposes. A portion of the profits is to be similarly disposed of. OTAGO SUCCESSES. Otago breeders of Clydesdale horses putup a good record in the section for Clydesdale horses.
