THE COSY CORNER CLUB.

A LETTER FROM ALPHA. Dear Elizabeth, —Just a line on the C.C.C. Though only a small number of members have sent in papers this year, I think that not only they, but the silent members and others have derived a good deal of pleasure and profit from this year’s session. I am euro, however, ive have all much missed Rangiora, iShasta, and other old writers, whose papers we had been accustomed to look for. I like Elsie’s paper at last meeting. She is right in laying stress on the education of children, for character is the great thing for the realisation of good social conditions. And mothers have thus the greatest power in the moulding of the future. I quite agree, too, with her ideas of the importance of allowing a child to develop naturally. Even in these days when there is often undue laxity, many parents still fail to respect their children’s personality ; they expect them to develop the capacities and tastes they find good. This accounts for a good deal of the friction there so often is between parents and their children, especially as these are growing out of childhood. Scarlet Pimpernel’s contribution was interesting; he will have the best wishes of all our circle for his complete recovery. Grandmother’s cheerful, kindly messages and strong faith will be greatly missed by all old members. With sincere appreciation of your conduct of the C.C.C., and of your own weekly

articles, I remain, dear Elizabeth, —Yours sincerely, Alpha. ■’ Many thanks for you kindly note. Alpha. A word or two such as yours makes a pleasant close to those meetings to the euccase of which you yourself do so much to contribute. —Elizabeth.
