Tho shortage of labour is apparently acute in some of tho country districts (according to the New Zealand Times). A report was received by tho Wanganui Education Board on the 20th inst. that children from a particular school had been kept away to assist in tho lambing season. It was decided to allow the attendance officer to exercise his discretion in view o' the exceptional circumstances. Later the harvest will have to be gathered, but to some extent the labour problem will bo solved, as tho children will then bo having their holidays.
