POLITICAL LIBEL ACTION
MELBOURNE, October 20. In the actions for alleged slander brought by Messrs Fisher and Pearce against Mr James Spencer, a drill foreman, a verdict was returned for the defendant in each, case. "*sr In the case of the Prime Minister it waa claimed that Mr Spencer, who is a drill foreman, had stated at a public meeting what was equal to saying that Mr Fisher was guilty of a criminal offence, for which he was liable to imprisonment, and which unfitted him for holding office as Prime Minister.
