HORSE PARADES.
The horse parade held at Tapanui on the 16th inst. was poorly attended, and the entries were smaller than usual, only five horses being paraded. These, however, were nearly all new to the district. The draughts comprised Messrs J. and It. Mackenzie and James Maodonell’s imported colt Brawn; Mr Chas. M‘Lean’s Scotland’s Success; Mr James Laing’s Homeland’s Pride. The only thoroughbred was Mr Carmichael’s Rose Noble. Mr M'Lennan’s trotting stallion Dragoon completed the list. The annual horse parade under tho auspices of the Tokomairiro Farmers’ Club was held at the show grounds on tho 19th inst. There was a fair attendance of farmers and others interested in horse-breeding. Tho entries showed a slight decrease on last year. Following was the parade state: Draughts: Mr J. R. Patrick’s Scotland’s Conqueror; Messrs Campbell and Co.’s Lord Montieth; Mr Jas. M‘Neil’s Derby’s Hero; Mr John Robinson’s Baron Rosebank. Light horses: Mr F. J. Conn’s Applegarth; Mr R. Robson’s Kinetic; Mr Wm. Pearson’s Arab Knight.
