N.Z. HOSPITAL IN CAIRO.
AUCKLAND, October 21
A letter received to-day from Lieutenantcolonel Parkes, commanding the Now Zealand General Hospital at Cairo, describes the heavy work entailed, and the great strain placed on the resources by extending the accommodation from 250 to £OO beds. Lioutcnant-colonel Parkes out that instead of 25 doctors, which is the military establishment for 'BOO beds, they had, when ho wrote on September 5, only seven, which had been provided for the original stationary hospital of 200 bods. In consequence, the medical staff was greatly overworked. The commander warmly praises the whole staff, who were cheerfully working long hours under very unpleasant climatic conditions
