WEST TAIERI HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the West Taiori Horticultural Society, held on the 15th, was presided over by Mr A. Grant, and, the attendance was satisfactory. The annual report congratulated members on the satisfactory progress mads during the past season. Although the balance sheet showed a debit balance, the society had more than held its own when comparing tho past year’s income with that of previous years. The two shows held during the year had proved very successful, the entries being - well in excess of those for previous shows. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, tho Chairman paid a tribute to the excellent manner in which the secretary and treasurer had carried out his duties. Tho motion was carried. Office-bearers were elected for, the approaching' season as follow:—President, Mr Arthur Grant; vice-president, Mr James Miller; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. T. Sings ; Management Committee —Mesdames Esplin, Southgate, and Stauaway, Messrs T. B. Grant, F. Parsons, J. H. Bathgate, Jas. Bundle, A. M‘Donald, T T. Grant, John Thomson, D. T. Inglis, James Watson, and F. Doherty; Schedule Committee— Mesdames Stanaway and Southgate, and Messrs T. B. Grant, F. Parsons, J. H. Bathgate, Jas. Bundle, president, and secretary; auditors, Messrs T. T. Grant, and T. B. Grant. Canvassers were appointed for the various districts as fellow :—Dunedin, Mr M‘Donald; Woodside, Mr J. H. Bathgate,; Maungatua, Miss Kempshell; North Taicri, Mr T. B. Grant; Berwick (left in hands of secretary); Allanton and Momona, Mr Watson; Outram, secretary. It was decided to hold two shows this year.
