THE MORNINGTON POLL.
AMALGAMATION WITH THE CITY CARRIED. A municipal problem that has been for the jaast 18 months of vital concern to residents of Alomington was settled on tho 11th, when a proposal to amalgamate with the City of Dunedin was earned by a substantial majority. Voting commenced at 9 a.m. and during the morning was so quiet as to give promise of a small poll. In the afternoon, however, the voting became brisk, and was particularly lively during the few hours immediately preceding the closing time—7 p.m. The poll was one of tho heaviest that has taken place in connection with tho affairs of the borough, 1137 people voting. For the proposal to amalgamate 790 votes were cast, 338 voted against tho proposal, and there were 9 informal votes.
