WEST TAIERI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The annual report and balance sheets to be presented at the annual mooting state that the year has been marked by an unusual number of changes in the ranks, but the work was being steadily maintained through all. From the ranks of the officebearers the church had lost by removal Messrs John Neill (elder and clerk of session), and Charles Mills and R. B. Neill (deacons). The church courts had been strengthened by the ordination of Mr Jas. Shaw to the office of the eldership, and of Messrs T. Dallas, R. Jenkins, W. Shaw, and D. Watt to the office of deacon. Of the 12 young - men who had gone from the district to serve their King and country, eight were members of the Bible classes. A branch of the girls’ auxiliary had been formed in Outrarn. The secretary of tho P.W.M.U. reported an increased membership, and an encouraging year. Besides the usual F.M. collection, which this year amounted to £2O 19s, the branch sent £lO to Dr Porteous for the upkeep of a cot in Jagadhri Hospital, and by a gift afternoon and s*le of work in April raised £2O for homo missions. The Deacons’ Court reported that it started tho year with a debit balance of £l7 Is, and at the end it had increased to £49 6s lOd, while the ordinary collections showed a. drop of £0 12s 6d. The sustentation fund had slightly improved from last year, which showed a decrease of £2O, and seat rents had also improved to the extent of £ll 14s.
