An Estate Agent’s Claim.—Stephen Oliver Battersby, estate and commission agent, claimed from John W r hite Bradley £59 19s. as commission due to him on sale on January 14; 1914, of defendant’s farm to W. Langlands Scott, being commission on £2580 at the rate of 5 per cent, on £250, 21 per cent. on £1250, and I), per cent on £IOBO. The plaintiff claimed the further sum of £6 10s. interest on £59 19s, at. the rate of 8 per cent, from January 14, 1914, to Mav 25, 1915. the total amount of the claim being £66 9s. No defence was made. Tho magistrate examined the plaintiff as to tho facts of the case, and gave judgment for the plaintiff for £54 9s, with costs, £4 17s. Mr E. A. Duncan appeared for the plaintiff.

A Claim for Commission. —James Samson (Mr W. C. MacGregor) v. Elizabeth Constance Peters (Mr Stephens).—This was a claim for £96 10s on the Chamber of Commerce scale on the sale by the defendant? to Charles Henry Taylor of the goodwill and furniture and stock in trade of the Tattorsal’s Hotel, for the sum of £2861 15s 6d, which was effected through the instrumentality of the plaintiff at the request of the defendant- -When the ease came on Mr MacGregor intimated that he was not appearing, and that the plaintiff was not appearing.—Mr Stephens stated that the defendant was present, but did not admit the claim.—The action was struck out, with costs for the defendant, amounting to £5 15s 6d.
