The Chairman explained that the meeting had boon ended tor the purpose of considering financial matters. The first question was whether they should go into committee or not. His own opinion was that they should. It would facilitate discussion, and if they were not in committee information might become known that would hinder the board borrowing as it should. Mr Walker moved that the board go into committee. The public, would have an opportunity of knowing the reasons that actuated tiro board when it resumed.- -Tha motion was carried without dissent. The board discussed in committee for some two hours the question of taking stops to obtain powers to borrow £IOO,OOO, and finally, on the motion of Mr Hazlett, it was resolved by a narrow majority—- “ That the present time is inopportune to increase our borrowing powers.” The matter of revenue -was then discussed at some length, and the following subcommittee was set up to go into the whole matter of revenue and expenditure and make recommendations to the board; — Messrs Dickson, Hazlett, Belcher, Loudon, and Shaddock. It was decided to advertise the Koputai for sale.
