“THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR."
DECLINED FOR HUMANITARIAN REASONS. According to the New York Exporters' and Importers’ Journal, the Electric Steel Company, of Pittsburgh, Penn., U.S.A.. has refused a bid on a contract to furnish 1,000,001 3-inch steel shells to the English Government at four dollars per shell. In declining to accept the order, the company declares that its directors, for “humanitarian reasons.” could not accept orders to furnish war materials to European belligerents.
