The annual meeting of the Hall Company was held on the 14th. Mr C. Walker presided in the absence of Mr Craig, chairman of the retiring committee. The annual report stated that, following on the efforts of the ladies and varous residents of the district, who raised a substantial sum by means of a bazaar, the committee did its utmost to further the financial position of the hall. The hall has been put in a state of good repair, and various additions have been made. Owing to legal oulties the mortgage has not been paid off; but the committee was able to hand over about £2O towards this end. Three trustees have been recommended —Messrs J. Williams, Wra. Craig, and A. Millar—but are not yet legally appointed. _ During the year the committee held a series of socials and dances, which brought in nearly £l4. In moving the adoption of the report the chairman said the committee had done its utmost to further the interests of the district through the. hull, which was now as up-to-date as it could be until a new structure was possible. The original trustees were dead, v *' and a public meeting had nominated Messrs Williams, Craig, and Miller as new trustees; but the trustees for the departed trustees had not signified their assent, and tfntil that was received the new trustees could not be held to be legally appointed. Mr Craig recommended that endeavours be made to have the old debt of about £3O cleared off as quickly as possible. He paid a tribute to the ladies who had worked at the bazaar, and to the excellent work done by the secretary (Mr E. Kyle). The report was adopted. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing period; —Messrs C. Walker, E. Kyle, W. Craig, J. Douglas, E. M'Lcan, J. Blair, and O. Williams.
