The world breathes heavily: beset by sound Of _stir in camps, of thunders in the field Where shepherds drawn from fold—each heart well steeled Well disciplined—with citizens unbound From city chain meet on the battle plain, Rank rivalling rank in stern and proud defence Of faithful Allies who defy pretence. And bravely dare Aceldamas of Pain Beholding war’s proud chariots in air And shameless hosts whose lust and baleful deed Inspire to fury, while the world’s great need Prompts great self-sacrifice—they greatly dare While ws who wait importunately pray Lord of Eternal Love, bless thou our arms alway!
