BANK-NOTE FORGERY
SYDNEY, July 20. A young Russian named Gutsche was to-day sentenced to two‘years’ imprisonment for forging an Australian £2O bank note. In consequence of the recent issue of forged £lO notes at Auckland, the Sydney police kept a sharp look out. The movements of young Gutsche excited suspicion, and on Monday night, Juno 2, the police paid a surprise visit to his lodgings at Redfern and arrested him whilst ho was at dinner. A search of his room led to the discovery of a complete plant for printing bank notes, including a press, printer’s ink, valuable lenses, prepared plates for etching, and a one-pound National Banlc note, while under his pillow was a fully loaded automatic pistoL
