BURNS CLUB CONCERT. The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Burns Club was hold in the Art Gallery Hall on the 15th. The president (Mr J. H. Loudon) occupied the chair, and the attendance imposed a severe tax upon the accommodation of the largo hall, every available seat being occupied. In the course of a few preliminary remarks the president expressed his gratification at the success of the Bannockburn celebrations, in which the Burns Club choir rendered very efficient service. Sympathetic reference was made regarding the recent death of the late Mr John Anderson, of Maori Hill, an old and highly esteemed member of the club, and the president also intimated that the committee had resolved to take up a subscription amongst members at next meeting for the purpose of raising funds for the proposed memorial to the late Mr Thomas Bracken, to whoso talents and memory the president paid a very warm tribute, which met with a hearty response from the audience. The concert programme was a varied and enjoyable one. A night with Sir Walter Scott is announced for the next meeting of the club, and a feature of the programme will be an address by Dean Fitchctt
At a public meeting it was recently decided to erect a memorial to the late Sir William Steward, ex-M.P. for Waitaki. South Canterbury local bodies are contribs#iig
