STEFFANSON'S EXPEDITION
NOME (Alaska), July 9. Mr Robert A. Bartlett, who took a prominent part in the Peary expedition, is awaiting the arrival of a United States revenue cutter to proceed to the rescue of the shipwrecked Steffanson expedition. The party is marooned on Wrangell Island. Mr Bartlett states that he knows nothing of the reported loss of eight men, as reported to the Government. Mr Bartlett added that the men who left Wrangell Island to secure provisions were saved when the Karluk was wrecked. They are believed to be safe, and no others were imperilled.
