In Wanganui the price of milk has been reduced from 5d to 4cl per quart, brought about by the fact that, following the good weather that has been experienced during the past few weeks, the cows have come forward early, and have given a largo supply of milk. There is a good demand in the Master-ton district just now for dairy cows. This would indicate (says the Daily Times) that dairy farmers intend to increase their herds in t*o coming season, for as a rule at this time of the year the inquiry for dairy cattle is not keen. During May 2812 persons arrived in New Zealand. 587 being from the United Kingdom and 1751 from New South Wales, as compared with 3056 in the corresponding month of last year. The departures totalled 3730. as against 3151 in May, 1914, the excess of departures over arrivals being 918. A shipment of long-tubed baby feedingbottles was prohibited landing in Tasmania, and it is likely that New Zealand will get the benefit of reduced prices. Dr Truby King stated at Wellington that several countries had legislated against the introduction of long-tubed bottles.
