THEFTS FROM OIL LAUNCHES.

POLICE UNEARTH A PLANT. AUCKLAND, December 5. It was recently discovered that several oil launches at Onehunga had been ransacked, and one, which had been removed from its moorings, was found piled up on a sandbank. The police yesterday visited Waikowai Park and on the foreshore unearthed a complete plant. The opinion is held that the men responsible for the thefts are preparing to make a trip to Australia. The plant included a compass, charts, binnacle, si_x_ tins of benzine, Large quantities of provisions, two or three bunks, clothing cut in the latest style, and a quantity of jewellery believed to be stolen.
