Trout are reported to bo very plentiful in the Hokitika River at present. Though there aro no reports of any anglers having been successful in the vicinity of the whitebait catchers’ trenches below the railway bridge, the trout ore to bo seen daily in

large numbcm as they chase the whitebait and herrings. Some of the fish are of a very substantial size.
