NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
WELLINGTON, August 20.
At a special meeting of the New Zealand Alliance Executive this afternoon the following resolution was adopted:—‘‘That the Executive of the New Zealand Alliance .has learned with much surprise and regret that its resolution repudiating tho post-card concerning Bible in schools and prohibition has been understood in many quarters as disclaiming tho responsibility while practically approving of the thing itself. The intention of the executive waji to dissociate tho alliance in every sense from the piost-card in question, and it strongly disapproved both of tho matter of the card and of the manner in which it appears to have been circulated. Wa wouldl resent any attempt to force members of the alliance as such to take either one side or the other on the Bible-in-State-schools question, and we deplore tha base attack which, professedly in the interest of temperance reform, has been made upon tho supporters of the Biblo-ior Stata-scnc-ls’ League.”
