WRONGFUL EJECTMENT.
WELLINGTON, August 21. Dr M'Arthur to-day gavo judgment in a case which attracted some attention, in which Francis Alderton sued Edward Ellis for damages for wrongful ejectment. When two weeks’ rent was duo Ellis evicted Alderton’s family, and put tho furniture out and locked the house. The magistrate held that it was the landlord’s duty to have token legal, proceedings and to have issued a writ for possession. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £5 damage* and for EUU for £1 8s rent.
