LONDON, August 13. u heat.—Owing to generally favourable weather reports the market is weak, and the price is fully sci lower. At the tallow sales 2791 casks were offered, and 1509 sold. Mutton; Fine, 39s 3d; medium, 35s 3d. Beef: Fine, 37s 6d; medium, 355. August 14. The American visible wheat supply is 54,555,000 bushels. August 15. The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be 1339,501,000, reserve £29,945,000, proportion of reserve to liabilities 58.07. The notes in circulation total £29,575,000, public deposits £9,341,000, other deposits £42.210.000, Government securities £12,457.000, other securities £27,241,000. The bank rate of discount is 4£ per cent. Short loans are discounted at 3 per cent, and three months’ bills as follows : London, 3| per cent; Paris, 3| per cent.; Berlin, 5 per cent. Consols are quoted at £73 17s Od. The following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks, compared

striated. For the new crop of Australian, per sailer, December-January shipment, 36s 6d is offered, but 36s 9d is asked. Australian and New Zealand spot : None offering. The flour market is dull. Australian spot 275. Gate are in fair demand. Best A grade Gartons, 25s to 24s 6d ; La Plata AugustSeptember shipment, 15s 10|d. Beans are quiet. The sum of 37s is asked, and 35a 5d is offered for New Zealand, July-August shipment. Peas are in fair demand. Prime Ne>v Zealand 43a to 46s ex-store. Butter ; Danish, 120 s to 1225. _ Colonial is neglected, and prices are nominally unchanged. v , The cheese market is firm. New Zealand 65s to 675. Wheat: The total quantity afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,515,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,960,000 quartern. The Atlantic shipments are 1,960,000 quarters, and the Pacific nil.
