MANCHESTER UNITY.
A good attendance of members and officers of the Loyal Roxburgh Lodge greeted N.G. Bro. F. Weatherall, who controlled the meeting held on Tuesday, 12th inst. The half-yearly balance sheet and auditor’s report disclosed _ the fact that the lodge was steadily increasing in funds and members. The sick pay for the term under review has been exceptionally high. P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Briggs (Loyal Caversham Lodge) congratulated the* trustees on the excellent investment of the lodge funds. The report and balance sheet were adopted. One new member was initiated , the ceremony being impressively conducted by Lecture-Master Bro W. ’ Stringer, supported by Warden Bro. T. Waight, and Per. Sec. Bro. J. H. Waight (instructor). The committee undertaking the arrangements for the holding of the lodge anniversary social reported that no efforts had been spared to insure a pleasant and enjoyable evening. In acknowledging the toast of “Visiting Brethren.” P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Briggs addressed the brethren assembled on the many advantages accruing to the members of the order. Bro. Jones (Tuapeka Pioneer) also responded to the toast. N.G. Bro. Macdonald presided over the meeting of the Loyal Vincent Lodge. Ihe principal business transacted was the election of three trustees, and P.G._ Bro. Simes. N.G. Bro. Macdonald, and E.S. Bro. 11. A. Richardson now occupy that important office. P.G. Bro. R. S. B. Clarke was elected Per. Secretary, and will also represent his lodge at the half-yearly meeting of District Committee to be held next month. Bro. Morgan (Band of Friendship Lodge Cambrians) responded to the second toast. During recess the members were entertained ; the time being devoted to impromptu speaking.
