Several junks in Macao roadstead were sunk in a typhoon, and 150 persons drowned! A sea wall gave way, and several houses were destroyed, a number of persons being killed.
The steamer State of California struck an uncharted rock near Combior Bay, Alaska, and became a total loss. Twenty* five passengers perished, many of them whilo asleep, and several of the crew were drowned. The steamer Jefferson, summoned by wireless, arrived in time to save 42. Some of the passengers were bound for the new gold diggings at Shushanna.
