KAITANGATA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAITANGATA. August 14
The following were elected officei-e at a mooting of the Kaitangata Bowling Club:— President, Captain Rutherford; vice-presi-dent, Mr A. Blackie; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr W. J. Smith; committee — Messrs Gage, M'Laren, H. Carson, Dr Clements, A. Middlemas, end M. Myers; auditors, Messrs P. Sounoes and J. O. Shore. The balance sheet for the year showed a debit balance of £1 12a Id. Work at the mine has been a little steadier during the past week, and to-day, for the first time this week, the whistle sounded as an indication of “ no work.” Last Friday the Rev. Mr Morton, of Lovells Flat, gave an interesting lantern lecture in the Church Hall before a large audience. The pictures dealt mostly with scenery and life in the New Hebrides. jVJ r F. J. Poole, J.P., at one time a resident, of this town, paid a visit here last week, after an absence of a considerable time. -
