CLYDENSTLE STUD BOOK.
The thirty-fifth volume of the Clydesdale Stud Book is to hand from the publishers in Glasgow. There is evidence of continued progress on stud book lines, pedigree having replaced non-registered animals on many farms. The entries in the now volume include 2753 of additional produce, 3344 of marcs, with produce, and "fillies, and 699 stallions, making an aggregate of 6806, compared with 6461 in the preceding number. There is a slight falling off in the number of stallions, but this is not a disadvantage. The size of the book has been kept to former proportions by closer printing and the use of thinner paper. It is explained that the increase in the entries is due largely to an extension of interest in registration among breeders, and is not to as great an extent as in some recent years the results of exportation. The export trade, however, is still a valuable feature. The shipments last year totalled 1438, against 1617 in 1911. There are photographs of the Gawdor Cup winners of last year, the stallion Scotland Yet and the mare Harvicstoun Baroness.
