POLICE FORCE BILL.
NEW CLAUSES PROPOSED.

WELLINGTON, August 7.
The amendments to the Police Force Pill, which the Hon. A. L. Herdman proposes to move in committee, include new sub-clauses as follow: The Governor may at any time reduce any officer of police who has been guilty 0 { anv act of misconduct or insubordination or who is remiss or negligent in the execution of his duty. The Governor may also at any time suspend any officer of police against whom a charge’of misconduct or insubordination has been made till such time as the charge has been inquired into and finally dealt with. Members of the Committee of -Inquiry with respect to claims regarding pay, cloth in", or leave of absence may issue summonses for the attendance of witnesses and may examine persons on oath. It is proposed that every member of the force shall retire at the age of 65 vears. except in certain special cases, in which the Governor may by warrant permit a member of the force to remain another six months.
