A FOOLISH WOMAN.
ATTEMPTS TO POISON HERSELF. AIT.’KLAND, August 8. A married woman, Mrs \V. Hi ark 1 , who lives in Newton, took poison this afternoon, ;in<l is now in liie Auckland Hospital. Her condition is not thought to be serious. At about two minutes to 2 o’clock us a young man canto out of hie house in Princes lane, Newton, lie saw a woman standing over on tlie opposite side of the road drinking from a cup. On seeing hint she called out, saying she had taken poison, and asking for help. He ran across the road and she then fell to the ground. He picked her up and ran to a in ighbouring chemist's shop. Dr Keith was summoned, and the* woman was given emetics, after which she was sent to the hospital. When admitted her condition was serious, but she improved later on, and is now expected to teeover. The woman, who is about 30 years of age, lias not been long in Auckland. A note written by her was found by the police in her bag. It stated that she could not live in this world any longer, and thipt she intended to take her life.
