During the past year 35 schools have been opened in the Auckland education district, and 14 have been closed. The number of schools under the Board when Mr G. J. Garland became chairman three rears ago was 531; it is now 605. The number of children attending Auckland primary schools at March, 1910, was 38,315; the number this year was 45.220. The number of teachers in the service in 1910 wan 1106; this year the number is 1320.
