MANCHESTER UNITY

The adjourned summoned meeting of the Loyal Alexandra Lodge was held on Wednesday evening. N.G. Bro. A. Kilgour being in the chair. The principal business was to receive the auditors’ report and balance sheet, which were adopted, and the auditors received a hearty vote of thanks. The principal figures are : Membership, IC4; total worth of funds, £2964; management'' fund, £SB; tick pay disbursed—for the halfyear, £BO. Perm. Secretary Bro. A. M. Wylie and Bro. A. C. Indies submitted the programme for the handbook, which was approved. Some members visited the Owaka Lodge for the annual ball, and were made welcome, q Bro. T. L. Spence proposed five new members, and the N.G. intimated that next lodge night degrees would be given. The business at last week's meeting cf the Loyal Mkidlemarch Lodge was but slight. It was decided to take the customary space in the Handbook, and a letter of recommendation was directed to be forwarded to Bro. W. Mathepon, to enable him to visit lodges in another district. The election of auditors resulted in the appointment of G.M. Bro. T. Fraser and P.G. Bro. fl. M'K ay. The committee having in hand the arrangements for the annual ball next week reported everything in forward order. There was a large attendance at tiie meeting of the Loyal Tapanui Lodge on Thursday evening. N.G Bro. C. Peake presided. The installation of officers for the ensuing half-year was ably conducted by G.M. Bro. M'Cartney. The following were installed:—G.M., Bro. C. Peake; N.G., Bro. W. Ritchie; V.G.. Bro. Jas. Fleming; Warden, Bro. IX Mackenzie; Guardian, Bro. W. (Tats worth. The balance sheet showed a profit for the halftear of £206 17s oil. Interest earned wa.< £143, and sick pay and medical fees cost £IBB. The total funds amounts to £6216. P.G.’s Bros. Donald M'Coll and F. Lisehner were appointed delegates to the .September district meeting. The chairman presented Warden Bro. Donald Mackenzie with si purse of sovereign* in recognition of the careful and painstaking manner in which he had carried out the duties of hi* office. P.G. Bro. After lodge a social was held, and the attendance was large, including members of Court Star of lleriot. During the evening songs were given by Messrs Oke Barton, T. Hogarth, and W. J. Rodger, and the music for the dances was supplied by Miss Jeffrey (piano) and Mr Handle (piccolo).
