NEW MARKET FOR SHEEP.

HIGH LANDS IN JAVA. {From Ocr Own Correspondent.) MARTON. July 29. New markets for New Zealand are steadily opening up, the latent being Java, where up to the present wool has not boon grown. A few months ago, however, Mr Lange, who had been to New Zealand and had returned to the rubber plantation, went deer stalking at an altitude of between 6000 ft and ''oooft above sea level. He was greatly impressed with the magnificent table land which spread o«t before him, and as it appeared to him to resemble the class of country which was so productive in New Zealand, he immediately applied to the Government for alxiut 40,000 acres. Having secured the title ho returned to New' Zealand, and ho hae just purchased in Wanganui district 20 Romneys, 20 Lincolns, 20 Border Leicester*, ami 20 Corriedales, while 20 merinos are to bo

purchased in the south. These will be experimented with, and the sheep best adapted for the climate will be selected and purchases on a large scale made next year. The experiment will be watched with the greatest interest. Two rams are included in each lot of sheep. Mr Lange is confident of ultimate success, though many difficulties will have to ho faced, not the least being a risk of raids by tigers. : ;
