ANNUAL REPORT. The following are some of the chief items contained in the annual report of Knox Church : One hundred and thirteen names were added to the communion roll last year—s 9 by certificate and 54 by profession of faith, iuo disjunctions were li —by death 23, by certificate 48. The attendances at communion were: September, 815; December, 749; March, 792; Juno, 789. Knox Church is responsible for church services in Leith Valley every .Sunday afternoon throughout the year, and at Pino Hill every Sunday evening in the summer (Knox College theological students taking tile services when they arc in session). The services during the year at the Stuart Hall Mission were conducted by the Rev. S. C. Harbinson. Iho members of the mission showed their appreciation of his services by entertaining him at a farewell social, and by giving him a presentation. Sister Laura continues to carry on the work of the mission with energy and tact. Her work and her visits are most warmly appreciated and praised by the members of the mission. We are pleased to record that the mid-week service and the men’s and women’s prayer meetings held on Sunday morning are being maintained with their customary strength. At the request of Mr Davies the office-bearers have undertaken to visit every home in connection with the congregation during the months of July. August, and September. The work of 'the Sabbath schools cannot bo said to bo quite as satisfactory in efficiency as it has been in former years, owing to unfortunate circumstances. On account of ill-health Mr David Todd, who had for many years held tip position of superintendent with great shccess, relinquished his duties just before the end of lust year, ultimately resigning his position. 'then, again, for various reasons we have suffered the Ices of a number of valuable teachers. We gladly welcomed the advent of the gcv. J. 0. Jamieson in our midst, Mr Jamieson having been appointed by the session as superintendent in charge of our schools and Bible classes. scheme for furnishing Dr Portcous’s hospital at Jagadhri has met with a hearty response from our members. The convenor’s statement shows a decrease in tho sustentation fund os compared with that of tho previous year ot nearly £9. The total amount of contributions from all sources for homo and foreign missions was £620 lls 9d for the year ending June, 1913, as against £671 6s 8d for 1912, but the amount for 1912 included a legacy of £IOO, thus showing tho actual church collection for 1913 to he about £SO in advance of the year 1912. Tho total amount to each fund is as follows : —Homo, £270 15s 7d; foreign, £297 4s lid; Maori missions, £42 lls 3d. The Ladies’ Association reports that the work of the association has been much the same as in former years. Tho Young Women’s Society reports a successful year, though there is little of outstanding importance to relate. A large amount of work has been done, many needy families have been helped, besides clothing the two children at Grant’s Braes Orphanage. This year tho society undertook to help Miss Henderson with her work in India by clothing and educating one of her Bible women for three years, at the rate of £ls per annum. For the year ending Juno 30, 1913, tho ordinary revenue amounted to £2203 18s, and ' the ordinary expenditure to £2201 5s id. In addition to thoeo sums there has been collected and paid over for special objects tho sum >«f £1327 19s 6d, making a total amount of £3531 17s 6d raised during tho year. Tho ordinary revenue for- last financial year shows an increase of £4B 4s lid on that of the previous year. Yet, _in view of tho exceptionally heavy expenditure of an unrecurring character, wo would have been confronted with a deficit had we not received special donations from members which have enabled us to commence the year with a credit balance of £3 8s Bd.
