Aliy information regarding' our old and fast-viiniching identities is always of internet, eo I trust your rondure will be pleased to liear that Mr and Mrs James Bryde, of Weston, celebrated their golden wedding on the 4th nlsi. 1 may state here that Mr Bryde arrived in the Dominion in the ship Strathmore on the 4th October, 1856; Mrs J’rydo in the chip Three Bells in 1858. Mr Bryde is a native of Caithness. Scotland. He purchased land at Saddle Hill, where he afterwards married the eldest daughter of Mr Wm. Brash. After residing there for some years they resolved to go north, and Mr Bryde. his wife, and family have resided ill various parts of the Oamaru dis--1 riot until recently, when they settled at Weston, so as to be near some of their family in their old age. At the golden wedding all the family were present Mrs Th os. Henderson (Enfield), Mr Daniel Patrick Bryde, only son (Milton), Mrs James Oliver (Maheno). Mrs Edward Grave (Temuka), and Mrs John Lawrence (Weston), There were 13 grandchildren present, and three great-grandchildren, one granddaughter and a great-grandson being unavoidably absent. Some relations and friends were also among the guests—notably, Mr Harry Hunter (late of Saddle llill. but now of Herbert), Mr B. M. Bryde (brother of Mr James Bryde. and late secretary to the Otago Education Board, Dunedin); and those who were present at the original wedding £0 years ago. In a most impressive address given by the Kcv. Mr Nilson, of Westo.n. touching reference was made to the experiences of the aged couple during their long life together. After the address was over the party sat down to a most sumptuous wedding breakfast provided by the daughters of the family, who. assisted by the granddaughters, ably vailed on the guests. A very pretty bride's cake graced the centre of the. fable. After enjoying all legend things. Mr Nils on proposed the heibli of Mr and Mrs Bryde, to which Mr P. Ci. Pryde in a neat speech feelingly replied. Mr Daniel Pryde and Mr Hunter also -;- : d a few words. Mrs Hutchison (sister of Mrs Bryde), who was present at the original wedding, presented the parents with a purse of sovereigns as a token of regard f-smi the family. Mr Clark (photographer) th'n appeared on the scene, and the entire grout) of relations and giu-Hs was photographed. Later on one was taken of the family only.
